Nutritional Substitutes of Milk for Kids

Dec 07 , 2020

There are many substitutes available for dairy products and nowadays, parents wish to know the best alternatives early on. Some kids are allergic to dairy products and hence they have to depend on a substitute to meet their nutritional needs. There are various high-quality, non-dairy milk products to consider and here are some of those substitutes.

Milk formulas

For toddlers, there are many fortified milk formulas available in the market. They are enriched with VItamin D, Iron, and fiber to make it nutritionally dense and a great option in place of regular milk.

Soy milk

Soy milk is a great source of protein and best for growing children.  if your child is allergic to cow’s milk then soy milk is a great substitute. It is also fortified with calcium and Vitamin D.

Almond milk

It is readily available in the market though it is slightly more expensive. Opt for unsweetened and fortified almond milk.

Goat’s milk

It is rich in calcium, Vitamin A, potassium and has many other micronutrients. It is an adequate alternative to cow’s milk but make sure you pick the fortified one.

Here are some alternatives to cow’s milk to consider. Consider the transition from breast milk to commercially sold milk after your baby turns one. You can take help from a pediatrician to understand which alternative would suit your child the best.
