Ways to Boost your Child’s Self Esteem

Sep 07 , 2020

Confident children are always ahead of those who lack in it. Life is full of challenges and for facing all hurdles it is important for every kid to have a good self-esteem. When children feel good about themselves they get an urge to try and learn new things. As we all want our kids to progress in life so here are some of the tips on how you can raise your child’s self-esteem:

1. Appreciation is must

Appreciation is the main key for boosting confidence. Always criticizing children makes them lose hope and self belief. No matter your child wins or lose but you should always motivate them so that they have the ability to try again. This way they will always work harder while facing any challenges.

2. Give responsibilities

Over-pampered children are too sensitive and face a problem in leading a tough life ahead. So from a very young age give responsibilities to your child so that he feels valuable. You can give them household work like dusting, cleaning or making bed. This way your kid will become independent and strong.

3. Let them make their own choices

It is a very common problem that almost every child faces. No doubt every parent is concerned for their kid and always tries their best to make them happy. But too much poking and interfering is not good for your child’s well being. Depending on the situation let them take their age-appropriate decisions themselves at times and do not impose yours on them.

4. Make them problem solvers

Instead of spoon feeding, try to leave some things which your child can handle alone. Dressing up your kids for school is good but make them learn to get ready on their own. This will help in building more self-confidence in them. The more children meet new challenges the more they get independence.

5. Spend time

For every parent it is very important to maintain a strong bond with your kid. Even if you are working take out some free hours or a weekend for spending some good time with your child. Sit with them and talk so that you understand what exactly is happening with him and what is going on in his mind.

6. Think before you speak

Children are too sensitive and they get hurt on small things. So, whenever you are angry  try to control your temperament and then talk. Do not say anything for which you have to regret afterwards as many times we say that we don’t mean to but the result of it breaks your child’s confidence.
