Food that Can Boost Your Child’s Immunity

Children often get sick and that leaves parents worried. Seasonal flu, cough, and cold are common but since we are fighting a pandemic, it is understandable you want to strengthen your child’s immunity. Food items that contain antioxidants and have antiviral and antibacterial properties should be a part of your child’s diet for stronger immunity. 

Fruits 

Fruits rich in Vitamin C and antioxidants should be a part of your child’s diet. They are anyway a rich source of other micronutrients like potassium, iron, selenium amongst many others. Fruits are also a great source of fiber. 

Vegetables 

Seasonal vegetables should be a part of yours and your young one’s diet.  Dark leafy vegetables amongst others are known to be immunity boosters and keep you healthy. Find children-friendly recipes if your child is a fussy eater and make it interesting for them. 

Yogurt 

This snack is packed with vitamins, calcium, and protein and it not only keeps bones healthy but helps the body fight off infections. 

Dry fruits and nuts 

Almond, cashews, walnuts, raisins, etc are great snacking options as they are packed with essential nutrients and contain Omega-3-fatty acids that protects from respiratory infections. 

Indian spices and condiments 

Spices like turmeric, garlic, and ginger are widely consumed in India as they are known for their antiviral and antibacterial properties. It also aids the production of WBCs and garlic is even known to prevent cold and flu. 

These are some food items that can boost your child’s immunity. You can find creative ways to include more fruits and vegetables in their diet by trying out recipes of salad, smoothies, and drinks. Add dry fruits on top for garnishing.
