How to Decode Your Teenager’s Erratic Behavior

Mar 30 , 2021

Teenage is a time when children go through a number of physical and mental changes. They learn more about ways of the world, accept certain things, try to understand themselves and create their own identity. Apart from sexual maturity, teenagers also show emotional maturity and ride through all sorts of feelings.

While some things are normal but there can be few things about which you will be clueless so will fail to understand why your child is behaving in a certain way. So we tell you some changes in behavior that you may see in your children and their reason

Mood swings

Frequent change in mood, being irritable and staying alone most of the time is commonly seen in teenagers. It is a result of hormonal fluctuation and changes that happen during the teen years. As parents, you should not be worried every time your child overreacts or does not indulge in a conversation. However, if you don’t see any improvement, it is best to talk to them about it.

 Not complying with rules

Teenagers show rebellious behavior and they do things they are specifically told not to.  Some things may not have serious consequences but there are chances this behavior can cause serious trouble.  It is best not to overreact if you find your child doing things he/she isn’t supposed to.  Try to understand where it is coming from and make them understand why the rules were made in the first place.

Changes in appearance

Teenagers like to experiment with their looks and keep up with trends. Their skin also might start breaking out and you will see hair growth too. It is normal for them to try on different looks and styles but make sure that isn’t a result of insecurity. If you see your child constantly trying to look different, try to know the reason behind it.

Increased social media and internet use

Teenagers love to keep up with trends and share the highlights of their lives with their peers. Social media can be an interesting platform to be at but if your child is obsessed with the internet world, take out time to know what exactly interests him/her. Keeping a check from distance can also help you understand whether your child id using the internet responsibly or not.

These are a few common behavioral problems that you may see in your teenagers. Make sure you give them the right space to grow as an individual but at the same time, stay close enough to know if they are on the right path or not.
