Nutrition Tips to Build Immunity in Kids

Other than taking precautions like washing hands and wearing a mask, a healthy body with a healthy mind is what is needed. Every parent becomes super cautious when it comes to their kids and in the on going pandemic we need to boost our kid’s immunity in order to protect them from Covid-19. So here are some easy nutrition tips

  • Include fruits and vegetables in the diet. Give them freshly cut fruits. They are essential because they consist of rich sources of essential micro-nutrients and minerals. Add foods rich in vitamin C like citrus fruits, foods rich in zinc, like whole grains, baked beans, and nuts, in the diet. 
  • Give them freshly cooked food as it is nutritious and hygienic. Add milk to their diet, it will be helpful in maintaining good health.
  • Try not to give them processed food as they have high amounts of saturated fatty acids, sugars, and salt.  Also, avoid sugary drinks as well and replace them with lemon or coconut water.
  • Make sure you give your kids at least 7-8 glasses of water daily. 
  • Add dry fruits in their diet.
  • The probiotics in yogurt stimulate your immune system, so give yogurt yo your kids with meals. 
  • Give your child plenty of foods rich in iron, such as red meat, spinach, broccoli, nuts, and beans.
  • Feed your kids foods rich in Vitamin B6 as it helps in strengthening the immune system. 
  • Breastfeeding is important and it should not stop during the pandemic. Exclusive breastfeeding is essential for babies for six months so keep breastfeeding your babies. 
  • Along with a healthy body, a healthy mind is also important so teach your kids to express gratitude to the food that they eat and always keep the mealtime happy. 
  • Also ask them to keep their hands clean by washing them.
