How to Boost the Self-Esteem of Short Stature Teenagers

Body shaming is something that happens in our society every day. “Shorty” is a term that every person with short height gets to hear in his/her lifetime. Children get upset when someone calls them “shorty” or comments on their height. When your child hears that being short is “unattractive” or not a “good” trait, it affects their self-esteem so as parents, it is your responsibility to make your child feel perfect about their height. Here are some things that you can do to boost your child’s self-esteem:

Growth Milestone

Whenever your child tells you that he is shorter than others it is important for you to tell them that growth happens differently for everyone. Some people will grow taller at a young age, while in some cases, others will take some time. It is necessary to have this real conversation with them so that they feel comfortable. 

Listen to them:

Sometimes it is better to hear them out than to tell them what to do. Just listen to their feelings and acknowledge them and tell them that it is okay to be different from others and appreciate their features.
